Hello beautiful people, as I said this week I got to travel to Playa del Carmen. A beautiful place I’ve been visiting for the past 8 years or even more and would love share it with you. Playa begun as a very small town from what I remember but over the years it has begun to grow incredibly. Last year they added stores like Forever 21, American Eagle and Victoria’s Secret (first ever boutique out of the US) but in 2016 I found stores like H&M, Michael Kors, and Sephora!
The most popular part of town is the 5th avenue which I walked and went to stores in a total of 5 hours. But today I will show you the first half of the journey.
We begun the walk on the end of the avenue where most stores are very boho and restaurants are more affordable. The area is not always filled with people in comparison with the other half that is very commercial. I must admit I like this one better because it is more relaxed and you can find many typical Mexican art.
Talking about art, I found this gorgeous art stand by Victoria that was filled with Frida Kahlo’s, my favorite artist. As soon as I saw this stand I knew I needed a portrait of her for my room. One of my other favorite things are the skulls, growing up in Mexico I learned to not fear death and to see it more as a beautiful thing that can be made into art. If you have ever been in Mexico you know what I mean, skulls are everywhere! Special thanks for Veronica who treated us very well and allowed me to take this picture.
A very characteristic place in Playa is their restaurants, they are everywhere and not only Mexican food but you can find Italian, American, Brazilian, and more!
After walking for some time my mom and I decided to take a break at a restaurant called “Chez Celine”. My mom always wanted to go to this place and it was so worth it! We had our food on the outside but when you go inside they have a wide selection of desserts and it was so hard to make my mind! At the end she had a lemon tart and I had a white chocolate tart. For drinks I decided to pick something called “granizada” I thought it was like a frappe but it is way better because the ice is super soft.
As you can see I ditched the loose hair and whore my hair in a bun. It was getting so hot outside and I couldn’t stand it!
Another thing that I love about Playa is that it has many Indian stores so you don’t just see Mexican stores everywhere. These stores have some pretty jewelry although you have to be very careful in not picking something that won’t last.
As I said before, restaurants are everywhere and like this one they are super original so you will always have a nice place where to eat! Next week to can see the rest of fifth avenue that is also as beautiful as the first half and full of shopping!
